Theme: 1. What are the characteristics of best practice codes of conduct? 2. What would best practice guidelines for assuring compliance with codes of conduct look like?

  1. Heard from Siemens on the journey it has gone through with regards to renewing its codes of conduct and the strategy it employed to embed the changes in the company.
  2. Heard from BAE Systems and Shell on the way in which they approach implementing codes of conduct.
  3. Held an open debate addressing best practice with regards to implementation of codes of conduct, management of corporate culture and the ongoing take up of codes and measures to mitigate risk of failure to abide by the codes.

John Garred, UK Regional Compliance Officer and Acting Cluster Compliance Officer NWE

John will provide an overview of the Siemens codes of conduct programme looking at where the organisation was with regards to codes of conduct, the strategy it took to put codes of conduct in place including ensuring compliance with the codes, and the methods of maintaining the codes going forward into 2011.
